Marist Football Club
Marist record the biggest win so far since the start of this season defeating FC Guadalcanal 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Marist are now second on the table with 4 points after two games played, just 2points behind leaders Solomon Warriors. Marist media have gathered a selection of post-match quotes from the players and Coach Juliano Schmeling following the big win.
Juliano Schmeling (Coach):
“A deserved victory for us and I am happy with the 3 points. For me it’s not about the score line but the way we build to get the result.
Our next two games will be against Western United and Solomon Warriors and we need to concentrate now because it’s very important.”
Guilherme Guedes (Forward):
“We played a very good football on Saturday against FC Guadalcanal. I am very happy not because of the score line or because I scored twice, but because the way we build to get the good result. We knew that game will be hard for us if we don’t perform well. We had some mistakes, and we have to fix it before our next game this coming Sunday. We have to prepare ourselves for the next game against Western United on Sunday.”
Zantas Soeasi (Goalkeeper):
“The combination was very good. We dominated possession, keeping the ball and attack on right time. I think the team can improve more and build on to continue get positive results like this.”
Michael Boso (Defender):
“The team improved a lot in terms of ball possession and finishing. In defence I think we played well on Saturday but we need to learn from our few mistakes as well, but it’s good to see us defenders scoring goals and assisting, support in attacks. It shows that we begin to organize very well at the back.”
Henry Fa’arodo (Midfielder):
“I think we went into the game knowing how important it is to get the maximum points. I think the difference in the game is the team structure. Each individual did their roles and responsibility. For me, I am impressed not about the result but with the ball movement, the execution and movement without the ball, and see defenders scoring is also a positive sign as a team”.
