The early tempo dissipated somewhat, with both teams offering an occasional threat but niggly fouls often broke up the rhythm. FC Guadalcanal responded immediately after a goal down with Coleman capitalising on Boso’s mistake and poked home to equalize 1-1. Joachim Waroi who was given a new role in the midfield restored the lead in the 20th minutes heading home from another resulting free kick by Marcelo to make it 2-1. Centre Back Michael Boso extended the lead 3-1 after reacted well to tap home from a low cross from the left. Fa’arodo tucked home the 4th goal from a rebound from Guilherme’s header hitting the woodwork. It was a comfortable 4-1 lead at the break.
With Confidence high after scoring 4 beautiful goals in the first half, Marist begin the second half more brightly with a dominant display. Guilherme puts Marist further ahead in the 50th Mins scoring from a spot kick. With the attacking quartet of Marcelo, Guilherme, Fa’arodo and Atkin in impish mood, the new look FC Guadalcanal were harassed into strings of errors as Fa’arodo again clipping in a delightful finish to make it 6-1. Marist wing backs Robert Laua and Koriak Upaiga were all impressive providing more attacking options at the wings. FC Guadalcanal were left with more frustration after George Stevenson was sent off for clumsy tackle on Laua. Another penalty was awarded to Marist after Sira's late challenge on Atkin, Guilherme calmly slot it home to make it 7-1. Fa’arodo completes his hat-trick in the final minutes after heading in from a well-timed cross from Michael Boso. FC Guadalcanal could not contain the clinical Marist side who scored 4 goals in each half to seal the biggest win so far since the start of the season 2017/18.
